Proof that not all BMW owners are dicks.

BMW owners carry with them a certain stigma. They are seen by most outsiders as total douche bags that can't park in just one parking space (unless it's handi-capped and they aren't). They never use blinkers except when they are pretending Highway 101 is their own personal Autobahn. And generally act like spoiled children (here's looking at you! —every Persian 17 year old in a white BMW).

But actions that took place yesterday proved, irrefutably, that not only is that stigma unfairly given to many a Bimmer-owner, but there's actually proof that many of them may have more honor and dignity than anyone could have ever imagined.

The day started out rather poorly for a certain Culver City resident who we'll just call Tim del Mustachio. You see, Tim awoke to the sight of his silver e36 M3 sitting on blocks, missing his beloved, authentic, 17x8.5" BMW Lightweight Motorsport rims.

I can only assume the thieves also covered his car in a month's worth of dust and swapped his headlights for faded, plastic ones too. Regardless of the car's lack of waxy shine, Tim was very upset. You see, the car doesn't drive very well without its wheels. Not to mention his vehicle was now missing 1/3 of the e36 prerequisite, "LTWs, clears, and a drop".

So Tim went to Facebook to rant. And he asked his fellow Bimmer-brethren to keep an eye out on Craigslist for the wheels. They did a lot more than just watch Craigslist. Within hours there were dozens of shares to various social media outlets, including local BMW CCA clubs.

After only eight short hours, Tim received a call from someone claiming to have purchased these wheels, then saw a post about it and couldn't keep them in good conscience.

Kinja'd!!!

Yes. You read that right. Someone actually had the balls to go back to the owner of said stolen wheels and offer to give them back to him. Because. Racecar? More like because HONOR.

Kinja'd!!!

Tim ended up paying the purchaser of the stolen wheels what he had paid for them on Craigslist. Which, as Tim states, was roughly 1/5 of their value. There was some obvious skepticism about the buyer's authenticity, but there's no way the actual thieves would have the cajones to attempt such a risky return of stolen goods. Thieves that use concrete blocks in the middle of the night just don't have that sort of Jedi skill-set.

Kinja'd!!!

So, less than a day after the wheels were stolen and Tim's beloved M3 was found sitting on blocks, he was returning home with that very same set of wheels. And it was no thanks to the local PD who refused to do a damn thing about the entire situation.

After I got the wheels back and shook their hand I would have punched him in the face.

I'm kidding. The guy is seriously lucky to get them back at all.

they're too busy writing me tickets for not having a front license plate to be bothered with, you know, ACTUAL CRIME. Bad business, the return on investment is too low.

I was joking on the premise that the guy that sold them back to him was the thief.
